MINNEAPOLIS (August 14, 2007) — Check local listings for this Friday's, August 17, broadcast of Bill Moyers Journal on PBS stations. Moyers will be interviewing ELCA pastor Martin E. Marty, focusing on his new book The Mystery of the Child.

Marty is one of the most prominent interpreters of religion and culture today. Author of more than fifty books, he is also a speaker, columnist, pastor, and teacher, having been a professor of religious history for thirty-five years at the University of Chicago, where he is the Fairfax M. Cone Distinguished Service Professor Emeritus.

The Mystery of the Child grew out of his three year co-directorship of a project entitled "The Child in Religion, Law, and Society" at the Center for the Study of Law and Religion at Emory University in Atlanta. Among Martin Marty's many books is the recently released bestseller Lutheran Questions, Lutheran Answers from Augsburg Fortress.
