Virginians to Present Queen with Biography of Blue Ridge Pastor

Minneapolis (May 1, 2007) – As the Commonwealth's official host, Governor Timothy M. Kaine will welcome Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh to Virginia on May 3 and 4, 2007

The Queen and The Duke will visit the State Capitol in downtown Richmond on Thursday, as well as visiting Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestown on Friday, to commemorate Jamestown 2007, the 400th anniversary of the first permanent English settlement in America.

During their visit the Queen will be presented with a copy of The Man Who Moved a Mountain, the definitive biography of Reverend Bob Childress, a Virginian mountain man that grew out of the shadows of violence, drunkenness and ignorance, leading many with him. The style and the text show, with stark clarity, the transforming effects Childress and his ministry had on the rough and wild mountain communities of this section of Virginia.

The Man Who Moved a Mountain, originally published in 1972 by Fortress Press, will be featured in a PBS documentary and also as a major motion picture release in 2008.
