Q & A for Group Facilitators

Why isn't there a leader guide?

In No Experience Necessary, everybody learns from the Bible and from each other. The articles in each session are there to highlight main points.

How do we get through all the material for each session?

No Experience Necessary gives you the flexibility to meet your small group's needs. Read and discuss the Bible reading and the lead article, then choose additional articles according to your group's interests:

  • a related Bible passage ("Another Look").
  • a key point about God ("Right to the Point").
  • how-to's for reading the Bible ("Bible Basics").
  • stories about people involved in God's mission today ("Right Here, Right Now").

Someone in my group talks all the time. What should I do?

At your first group meeting, encourage everyone to feel free to share and to make sure others have a chance to speak too. If someone talks for too long, thank him or her and invite others to speak. If this persists, talk to the person privately about getting others to join group discussions.

I can't get some people in my group to talk at all. What should I do?

Be encouraging, but don't force people to respond. Occasionally go around the circle, asking for responses from each person (allowing people to "pass" if they wish). If you can, form smaller groups of two or three to discuss a few questions each week.
